TRANSLAT ION MINISTRY
And this gospel of the kingdom shall be proclaimed in all the world as a witness to all nations. And then the end shall come, Matthew 24:14.
MISSION is the red thread that joins all ministries in the Embassy of God church, the church that has enough of spiritual bread from God not only for Ukrainian and the Russian speaking people, but for the whole world.
1. Often the lack of knowledge of foreign languages becomes the obstacle to preaching the Gospel. Our ministry helps to overcome the language barrier by providing different kinds of translation.
The Translation Ministry is a team dedicated who sacrifice their strength, time, and knowledge to fulfill the assignment given by God – to preach the Gospel of the Kingdom to all nations.
2. The Translation Ministry is quite young. Nevertheless, within a short period of time, we have become capable of doing good translation work. We work with such languages as:
- English and German (simultaneous, consecutive and written translation);
- French, Italian, Spanish (consecutive and written translation);
- And we are actively developing other languages, too!

Very soon you will read much of the material on our website in German and French.
Currently, our team consists of 5 written translators, 5 oral interpreters, and 6 editors: these are brothers and sisters from Ukraine, Russia, England, and the USA serving God with their knowledge. Many of them have grown professionally in this ministry.
As you can see, our ministry is international and borderless!
3. The Translation Ministry is a place, where everyone can find and establish oneself!
The Translation Ministry’s leaders will gladly help you develop your talents in perfecting your foreign language speaking skills.
If you are called to other countries, you can take the truths of the Kingdom of God there by translating sermons and other information that will help these people to know God’s truths.
Also, if you are a native English, German, or French speaker, you can join the team as an editor (see below what it takes) or, if you are currently in Kiev, assist in holding a Foreign Language SPEAKING CLUB, which launches in January 2010. We are starting an English group and a German group for Ukrainians, who have learned the language, but do not have an opportunity to practice it. The SPEAKING CLUB meetings will be held once a week for each language group and you could help as often as it is convenient for you.

What is Translation and what does the Translation Ministry actually do?
Through Pastor Sunday, God put the treasure of the Gospel of the Kingdom into our hands, and it is our responsibility before God to have it preached "in all the world as a witness to all nations".
The Translation Ministry is divided into three areas: simultaneous, consecutive, and written translation.
Professional simultaneous interpretation is a kind of oral interpretation, which is done at the same time with perceiving information by ear heard only once in the original language. Usually it is done in a booth isolated from the audience. The difficult part in this kind of interpretation is that interpreter needs to listen, analyze, and speak at the same time no matter how fast and clear the speech is. So, during simultaneous interpretation, the speaker is speaking into the microphone in one language and the interpreter is listening to the speech through earphones and is translating it into another language speaking at the same time with the speaker. It is actually as hard as it sounds.
 Psychological tension and physiological discomfort, which a simultaneous interpreter is constantly feeling during work, puts this profession in line with the profession of a test pilot.
Volunteers of the Translation Ministry provide simultaneous interpretation into the English language during services every Thursday and Sunday in the Central Embassy of God Church, as well as during all general church activities such as summer and winter fasts, women and men conferences, and anniversaries.
Consecutive interpretation, in contrast to simultaneous one, is not done at the same time with perception of text in the initial language, but follows it.
Volunteers of the Translation Ministry provide consecutive interpretation into the Russian/Ukrainian language from the podium during general church meetings when we have a guest speaking.
Now, let us imagine a very thoughtful person sitting at the table surrounded by bookcases with all kinds of dictionaries, reference books, and encyclopedias. There is a bundle of paper and a pen (or most probably a computer in our high-tech age) in front of him/her. It is a translator doing a written translation to his/her own or foreign language. It is silent in the room and you can draw a cup of tea or coffee in your mind’s eye.
Of course, it is almost an idyllic picture. In real life, you get to do written translation in different places, which is not always comfortable. Though, nevertheless, in comparison with madness of simultaneous translation and constant nervous tension of consecutive translation, written translation is far less fussy and nervous: you get some time to think and look up things in dictionaries.
Volunteers of the Translation Ministry provide written translation of articles into the English language for the Embassy of God Church web-site www.godembassy.org.
A very important part of our ministry is our editing team who review the English versions of translated articles before they are published. Thanks to them, articles read more like native English writing. We also are planning to start translating the most interesting sermons into other languages, such as German, French, and Italian.
